Pasman Sukuseura ry
The family society was founded in 1987 in connection with the first family gathering. The activities of the family society include family gatherings organized every three to five years, publication of family books and communication between family members.
The seat of the Pasma family is in Kolari, municipality in Finland in Tornionlaakso. The family lives on both sides of the Tornionjoki and in different parts of Finland and Sweden, and as a result of the migration that started in the 19th century, also in northern Norway, the United States and Canada.
The family originated from a house built on the shore of Pasmajärvi in the 1750s. Other houses were built and inhabited by members of the family. The village of Pasmajärvi was born from this settlement. At the same time, the members of the clan family settled on the shores of the nearby lakes and created the settlement of new villages. Thus, the family includes not only the broad Pasma family branch, but also the Kuru, Ruokojärvi-Ruokovaara, Juustovaara and Järvirova family branches that inhabit other southern lake villages of Kolari.

Family pennant
The emblem of the Pasma family is depicted on a pennant.
The blue stripe dividing the flag reflects the distribution of the genus on both sides of Tornionjoki in present-day Finland and Sweden. This is also reflected by the Finnish and Swedish flags and blue-white-yellow coloring.
The pennant is not currently for sale. The family club gives out flags for the work done for the benefit of the family.
House marks of family members
House marks of third-generation Pasma trustees from Ylitornio parish records from the 1860s. At the top, Fredrik Ollinpoika Pasma (b. 1807), in the middle, boarder Heikki Vilhelmi Pekanpoika Kuru (b. 1827) and at the bottom, six-man Salomon Ollinpoika Mäki (formerly Pasma, b. 1800).
Pasmajärvi school or Sointula
Pasmajärvi school, or Sointula, is the venue for family gatherings and the "headquarters" of the family society.
Pasmajärvi was chosen as the Lapland village of year in 2017. Get to know the village on Pasmajärvi's website or Kylien Kolari website. Click on the links for Finnish sites.
